Injury, part 2
I heard back from my doctor this evening - and it's good news! No, not that good, unfortunately... I'm still not going to be able to run in the Nike as I had hoped, but the x-rays showed that everything was basically fine I'm just dealing with a lot of fluid buildup in my knee. The solution for that? Time.
So I'm becoming a cheerleader for the next 3 weeks - no pom-poms but definitely lots of encouraging words - and in the meantime will continue to be patient as my knee heals itself. Tomorrow morning I'm working a water stop for the team's big run, and will hopefully get a chance to chat with my coaches and team manager about which future season I can jump into.
Speaking of coaches, I got an email from Mama Lisa encouraging me to hang in there despite the injury and disappointment of not being able to run in my chosen event. It's really great to get that kind of message from her, since she's someone who really knows where I'm coming from. She even said I remind her of when she was learning to run! If that isn't a compliment, I don't know what is.
Well, I have to get up early tomorrow, so I'll sign off for now... Hopefully I'll have a sense for when my new event will be soon!
